World Book and Copyright Day(23^rd April)

World Book and Copyright Day is an annual event that goes by name like World Book Day or International Day of the Book.

The Day is marked every year to celebrate and promote the enjoyment of Reading Books.

Today on 23^rd April celebrated as World Book and Copyright Day  across the world by UNESCO

Ø To honour authors and Books.

Ø To Promote art of reading ,writing, translating, publishing and copyright.

 The prime idea behind the day to celebrate is to spread the JOY  and PLEASURE of  reading.

 The Theme of  year 2023 is  “Indigenous languages"

 World Book Day is organised every year by UNESCO.

It was first celebrated on 23^rd April 1995.

UNESCO has selected the 23^rd April as World Book Day and Copyright Day to pay respect to renowned literary personalities including

William Shakespeare

Miguel Cervantes  and

Inca Garcilaso  de la Vega   

All died on this date.

 This Date was natural choice for UNESCO’s General Conference held in Paris in 1995, to pay a world wide tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone to access book.

English Language day is observed annually on April 23. It marks the birthday and date of death of famed writer William Shakespeare. English Language Day is observed annually on April 23. The aim is to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity by exploring the language.
