Why is National
Librarian Day celebrated?
National
Librarians' Day is observed on 12th August every year to commemorate
the birth anniversary of Padmashri Dr S. R. Ranganathan (1892-1972),
who is considered as father of library science in India. Dr. Ranganathan
dedicated his entire life to library profession in India leaving a rich legacy.
What is the theme
for National Library Week 2022?
The
theme for National Library Week 2022, “Connect with Your Library,”
promotes the idea that libraries are places to get connected to technology by
using broadband, computers, and other resources. Libraries also offer
opportunities to connect with media, programs, ideas, and classes—in addition
to books.
How do we celebrate
National Library Day?
To
celebrate National Libraries Day, events including author talks and
competitions are organised across the country by local authorities,
universities, other providers of library services and local community groups.
